Blog 5

At the tutorial questions, I saw several tricky situations I had faced before. For example, question 1; the self plagiarizing, question 3; secondary citation, question 5; can not remember where I found the data. These things always make me confuse if it is wrong or not. However, while I was solving these problems, I could clarify the concepts of plagiarism. The most impressive question was the first question, which was about the self-plagiarism which answer was “it is not plagiarism but if I do not have permission from the teacher, it could be guilty.”. I had sometimes faced in similar situation and I always felt constrained to use the past work. However, after solving the problem, I could definite that it was not a plagiarism (anyway it is guilty in OSU to use the old works with out permission.). Now, if I have to define the term of plagiarism, I will answer like this. “Using other’s ideas without refer it and even referred about it, if we do not use it without paraphrasing, it is plagiarism.”
